My Why/My Story/My Inspiration – A Message From The Founder; David Gale

There is a reason why I am a people company.

I engage and service people every time I do any event, show or party. People have become the centre of my life and my inspiration for my business model.

This did not occur without hardship. This is my story and my realization.

Just like more and more children in Canada, I lost my family unit because of divorce at a young age. I quickly became the “man of the house” and tried my best, at the age of eight, to take care of my mother and sister. My father was no longer around.

For the next five years, in school and at home, abuse of all kinds became an every day reality for me in my life. When I was 11, I started to seek a safe place to escape the daily abuse. I first found refuge in the local library reading books. I found books about magic to be the most interesting and decided I would start my first business as a magician.

This is when I found my ultimate safe space. I quickly learned that performing in front of others was the ultimate escape from the abuse at home. I was lost until I found purpose in performing. I had never experienced anything that built my confidence and self-esteem; made me realize my self worth as quickly or efficiently as performing in front of a real audience.

I became known as Canada’s youngest magician and in order to attract business I negotiated taxi rides in return for a free magic show at the local daycare centres. This is what helped me to start spreading the word of my performances and within a year I was performing on television, in festivals, in parades, in community centres, for birthday parties, signing autographs, etc. And then tragedy struck once again.

After investing my money into acquiring a large inventory of stage magic tricks, it was all stolen and I could not afford to replace the items I had worked so hard to get so I canceled my up-coming shows and was forced to close down my magic company. I was devastated but for some reason confident that my performing days were not over…and I was right.

Cue Barry….the most important person to enter my life.

Barry was a DJ. I met Barry at my grade six school dance. I only did one thing at that dance; stand beside Barry and watch him perform. The equipment, the lights, the records turning, the music blaring….I had never seen anything like it.

After standing and taking in the amazing performance, Barry asked me if I was interested in what he was doing. I said “YES” with a big smile, thinking he was going to show me a few things at that very moment. Instead he did something that I now realize SAVED MY LIFE. He offered to take me to shows every weekend so I could learn how to become a DJ myself. Considering I did not have a father in my life at the time and was looking to find myself again…Barry could not have entered my life at a better time.

At the age of 12, my weekends were occupied hauling equipment into various venues, setting up and trouble shooting technical issues, equalizing sound for different rooms, dressing up in a shirt and tie but most importantly…I was performing again for people!

Barry opened up an entirely new world of performance for me. He started to show me how important my role was as a performer; an entertainer; a DJ. I’m not just standing on a stage playing music. I’m manipulating people’s emotions. I could make people feel happy, sad, nostalgic, excited, even angry, which was the one emotion I tried very hard to avoid making people feel.

The reason I realize that Barry was the most important person to enter my life, is because he was the one that proved how powerful of a human being I really am. That my ability to create the most powerful memories of people’s lives; memories that will live with those people forever is what created the foundation for the success I experience today.

It was this realization that inspired me to start my DJ school. It was this realization that inspired me to take many other kids, in any and all walks of life, under MY wing and show them how to transform their lives as well.

I have climbed this mountain, I have experienced all of the highs and lows and I have absolutely become a much better human being because of it all.

This is why I exist; this is why my company exists and this is why your kids will have the safest, most inspiring environment to also learn how to become a fantastic human being.
